Sioux City, Iowa

Happy Wanderlust Wednesday!

So know I’ve slacked on my wanderlust Wednesday’s, guilty as charged lol.  Last I mentioned I was traveling to Iowa, ugh weather was terrible. I was hoping for some snow or something but it was foggy, rainy and a little cold. Weather made exploring difficult, not to mention I did not have a car so I was kind of floating around or did whatever I could by foot.

I went to Iowa to visit family that I don’t get to see, ever. They actually had no idea I was coming up! My family originally is from Santa Ana, California but a few of them moved to Sioux City, Iowa. It’s really not as bad as people think, I mean, it’s like any state in the midwest, we just don’t hear about Iowa as much. There are no beaches but they have seasons and hills/mountains! Making the sunsets quite nice actually.

New Orleans, LA

Happy Wanderlust Wednesday!! 🌎

Today, I am going to reflect on my trip to New Orleans…I had an absolute BLAST there! I am not so much of a party person (well sometimes) but I love to have a good time and by good time I mean skipping the lines at the club and going to the local bar/pub. New Orleans was the perfect place for bar hopping! Bourbon street was filled with tons of bars, clubs and people. Such a diverse crowd, everything, hispanics, whites, blacks… drunk, sober, happy, mad but most of all interesting.

I wish I could remember all of the places we went to but to be honest, I think I was drunk the entire weekend. Ha. Don’t judge me. We’ve all had our moments. I went with a co-worker and met up with one of my military friends, we planned for a fun filled three day weekend. We stayed at the Q&C Hotel, which we actually got as a mystery hotel in a bundle that costed us $198 a pop- hotel and flight. Glad we decided to be spontaneous because that mystery hotel turned out to be FANTASTIC. It’s beautiful and in the ideal location, walking distance to a lot of places… What a deal that was!!

We did a city scavenger hunt where you are dared and ridiculed but that’s what memories are, living in the moment, free and happy and also stepping out of your comfort zone. You buy the deal, download the app, it gives you dares to do and you look like an ass haha but it also teaches you some history.

One thing I wish I would have done was take pictures of all the good food we ate, everyone knows that gumbo is a must when going to NOLA and so are crawfish and po-boys and oh man, all this thinking about food is making me hungry! Lol. One place I definitely remember is this place -I want to say off bourbon, not sure – it served these huge ass beers. Like literally. The place is even called HUGE ASS BEERS. Lol. It’s a small bar, nothing fancy, good music, good beer… awesome time!!

We also went down the Mississippi River on The Creole Queen Paddlewheeler which offered the Historical River Cruise. The cruise took us to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and the historic Chalmette Battlefield. The Paddlewheeler was pretty cool and they offer drinks but is cash only bar, future note to self. Other than that, kick back, look out at the river and its surroundings and enjoy the cruise!

I definitely want to go back to New Orleans one day, hopefully soon!

Happy traveling! 😊🌎

The Capilano Suspension Bridge

Happy Wanderlust Wednesday! 🌎 Where have you traveled to? Where is your next trip to?img_0791

Taken at The Capilano Suspension Bridge located in Vancouver, Canada. The Capilano Suspension Bridge is 140 meters long and is 70 meters above the river. It truly is an amazing experience, it was a little scary at first, guess I’m scarred from watching movies where the something happens on a bridge lol. It was hard to get a steady photo on the bridge with so many people walking, it gets shaky and kind of moves side to side, not like a swinging motion or anything. On this day it was foggy, rainy and cold but I wouldn’t change the experience for anything!! ☺️

I will be traveling to Iowa next week to visit some family. I know, Iowa is not a place you hear people traveling to very often but my family moved there years ago from California, not really sure why but they did. My cousin texted me in the morning and said “I woke up and it was -7, don’t forget to pack a sweater”. Ummm.. a sweater?! I’m from Florida, I need long johns, beanies, gloves, like ten jackets and if I could layer shoes, I would layer at least 4 pairs.  I am going to FREEZE!!

Anyway, Happy Wanderlust Wednesday and continue to wander!
