Happy Wanderlust Wednesday!! 🌎
Today, I am going to reflect on my trip to New Orleans…I had an absolute BLAST there! I am not so much of a party person (well sometimes) but I love to have a good time and by good time I mean skipping the lines at the club and going to the local bar/pub. New Orleans was the perfect place for bar hopping! Bourbon street was filled with tons of bars, clubs and people. Such a diverse crowd, everything, hispanics, whites, blacks… drunk, sober, happy, mad but most of all interesting.
I wish I could remember all of the places we went to but to be honest, I think I was drunk the entire weekend. Ha. Don’t judge me. We’ve all had our moments. I went with a co-worker and met up with one of my military friends, we planned for a fun filled three day weekend. We stayed at the Q&C Hotel, which we actually got as a mystery hotel in a bundle that costed us $198 a pop- hotel and flight. Glad we decided to be spontaneous because that mystery hotel turned out to be FANTASTIC. It’s beautiful and in the ideal location, walking distance to a lot of places… What a deal that was!!
We did a city scavenger hunt where you are dared and ridiculed but that’s what memories are, living in the moment, free and happy and also stepping out of your comfort zone. You buy the deal, download the app, it gives you dares to do and you look like an ass haha but it also teaches you some history.
One thing I wish I would have done was take pictures of all the good food we ate, everyone knows that gumbo is a must when going to NOLA and so are crawfish and po-boys and oh man, all this thinking about food is making me hungry! Lol. One place I definitely remember is this place -I want to say off bourbon, not sure – it served these huge ass beers. Like literally. The place is even called HUGE ASS BEERS. Lol. It’s a small bar, nothing fancy, good music, good beer… awesome time!!
We also went down the Mississippi River on The Creole Queen Paddlewheeler which offered the Historical River Cruise. The cruise took us to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and the historic Chalmette Battlefield. The Paddlewheeler was pretty cool and they offer drinks but is cash only bar, future note to self. Other than that, kick back, look out at the river and its surroundings and enjoy the cruise!
Happy traveling! 😊🌎
